Criteria
- Available to graduates of Woodinville, North Creek, Bothell and Inglemoor high schools and Secondary Academic for Success (SAS).
- Financial need is a strong consideration.
- Plans to attend a public or private two- or four-year school within the Pacific Northwest.
- Consideration given to those who have participated in the Rotary- sponsored Northshore Interact Club during high school.
- Will major in science and seek a bachelor’s degree in the field of science.
Requirements
- Has participated in student activities and demonstrated a strong commitment for service to others, both in school and community;
- Letters of recommendation will be accepted but are not required;
- Candidates are interviewed by a committee comprised of members of Woodinville Rotary Club and the Scholarship Foundation leadership.

Max Gustav Zellweger was born and raised in Switzerland and, upon migrating to the United States, became a significant contributor to the burgeoning Pacific Northwest wine industry. He started his career as a chemist in South Africa, returning to Switzerland to earn a bachelor's degree in Technology of Juices and Oenology in 1979.
Following years of winemaking in central Washington and Oregon, he became president of Columbia Winery in Woodinville. He served as president of the Woodinville Rotary Club and was a substantial contributor to Rotary's international projects, including trips to Pakistan in the 1980s-90s.
He developed and operated thousands of acres of premium wine vineyards in Idaho, Washington and Oregon for Winemakers LLC until his retirement. He also was a financial supporter of this Scholarship Foundation and was instrumental in its growth in scholarships and investment dollars.
